“Hand of God” by Kevin Devine

I really need to stop with these repeat artists.

“You Wouldn’t Have To Ask” by Bad Books.

Mwahahaha! I finally have it. No more going to the band’s myspace every time I want to listen.

You can have it, too! Just right click THIS and press “Save As” to save it in MP3 form.

Mac user? Sucks to be you.

Naw, I jest. I’d rather have a Mac. But you can’t right-click shit. It bothers me.

I’m rambling.

Holding Down The Laughter” by Bad Books

Gee, I hope I don’t think I like this album more than I actually do just because it was a joint effort by two of my favorite writers.

How This All Ends” by Bad Books

Now that I’ve seen them in concert, I love this album. It’s the Say Anything-effect.

Cotton Crush” by Kevin Devine

Okay, now it’s seriously too much Kevin Devine. I think it’s safe to say that this guy is one of my biggest lyrical influences.

And hey, this is my 100th song post. The means the approximately 1/4 of all my posts are music. That doesn’t seem like enough.

This give me hope for the future.

Another Bag Of Bones” by Kevin Devine

Another Bag of Bones is about the tipping point, and not if we’ve passed it, but how far passed it we are. I don’t consider myself a cynical person; I believe in progress and I believe in people, but this is a litany of horrified observations and my attempt (in the second verse, anyway) to call bullshit on the moral relativism associated the ‘good guy’/’bad guy’ roles assigned to the current players in Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel/Palestine, etc. Which God is right? Can’t be all of them. This is a song borne of frustrated fear; you have to get through it to whatever’s next.”
Kevin Devine

I have nothing but absolute love for this song. If I could write like Kevin Devine, I’d be set for life. I find the end of this song incredibly soothing. His next album will probably bring me just as much joy.

Oh, and remember when I lied and said “no more Kevin Devine posts”? Good time.

11.17.10” by Kevin Devine

areiss:

This song is beautiful and brooding and it builds. Plus one for the Gingers.

Another great find, sir. I’ve never heard this song before.

Watch this and try to not like this guy. I dare you.
